Following the project Taste of Freedom, Cooking For Freedom Project was created. PROJECT TASTE OF FREEDOM – was a project that aimed at exchanging experiences between various countries to identify good educational practices in prison. Within the project developed in Portugal, there was a raised awareness to reading through books, text analysis and creative writing, culminating in the publication of a newsletter entitled ‘Grito de Paz’ (Cry for Peace) with texts written by prisoners; organisation of gatherings to discuss and debate various social, cultural and spiritual themes; movie watching with subsequent discussion and comments. The project was invited to be presented at the International Exhibition, held in Milan, where a film of the activities developed by all partners will be shown.
Started on the 1st August, 2013, this programme runed until 31st July, 2015, ending with the delivery of the final report on 30th September, 2015. Under the orientation of Portugal and Italy, and with the participation of Lithuania, Turkey and Spain, this project brought together six institutions, including Confiar – P.F. Portugal association, which actively cooperated with prisons, with a specific focus on teaching good eating habits, respect for the environment and the promotion of active reintegration of prisoners.
