CONFIAR – Prison Fellowship Association – P.F./Portugal, Christian-oriented from the Catholic Church and open to cultural and inter-religious dialogue, is a Private Social Solidarity Institution recognised as a Public Utility institution, associated to Prison Fellowship International, made up of volunteers and voluntary associations, proposes to:

  • Help prisoners, ex-prisoners and their respective families, including underage children as victims of parental incarceration;
  • Help the victims of sentenced crimes;
  • To provide prisoners with social, professional, cultural, material and spiritual support contributing to their personal dignity and social inclusion, in order to help find solutions that can aid the prisoner as an individual to be reconciled with themselves and with the victims of their acts, with family and with the community to which they belong and thereby giving rise to a ‘new life’ in society;

  • Establish ties of mutual aid between volunteers in prisons and promote their activities and aspirations to the relevant official bodies and others.
